I'm going to borrow from a friend and just bullet this post. Seems a little how my mind is functioning these days.
* Still dizzy. Doc's office isn't open when I'm off and I can't seem to find a time at work to make a personal phone call. Seems to be a little less but still there. Hub actually got to see the eye action during a spell last night. Rather strange.
* First week of school and they finally installed a new phone system that was promised last year. It's really pretty neat except for the fact that it was full of kinks, nobody really knew how to work it (including me) and each tech is giving a different answer. I have lost more phone calls this week. I'm sure it will be fabulous...eventually.
* Also received a new computer tower this week. One problem though was that when they said that they would transfer everything, I thought they meant files, too. OOPS! I've been hunting all of my favorites that I take for granted.
* I feel like such a klutz! One night this week, I had my glass of water and was heading up to bed. My little shih tzu starting racing up and knocked me down. I caught myself on the stairs with my forearm and now it is still swollen and bruised. Slept with an ice pack all night. It will soon be a lovely shade of green.
* Sleeping with an ice pack was really a pretty good thing as the upstairs a/c went out that night. (I really think that our house is rebelling.) I called the repairman and made an appointment for late the next afternoon so that I wouldn't have to take a day of vacation. He came two hours early and our son was home alone with him. Didn't like that situation and then what he said was broken had already been replaced before. I told him to check with his office and call me. Instead he just replaced it and left me a bill for $264. Anyway, when I got off I went straight to the a/c office and visited with the owner. Nicest guy in the world. He was quite apologetic, tore up the bill and is sending a specialist out next week to make sure that we are all good. It doesn't get any better than that. He's my guy! :)
* Last week Hub was out of state on business. He actually was flying in and out of the city that my son's birthmom lives in. We didn't talk about it before, but I knew he would do it. He called her and went over to meet her. After 21 years, this is still so strange. She was thrilled. She even fixed him dinner and then he had her boyfriend take a picture of the two of them together and sent it to our son. He freaked out a little. Said that seeing his Dad with his birthmom and not me, just looked wrong. Anyway, we are all plowing through this new unknown territory.
* We are really re-thinking the move. Not sure how much choice we have, but we are not necessarily pushing the house to sell. So confusing. One day we think that the change is so good and we want to move and then the next day, it is a whole other story. Hub did hear from a colleague that another district manager may be leaving which would open up a district close to here. In fact, it is where we both lived when we met and we still have lots of friends there. He might not even have to move to take it. It's just a rumor and thought. I really have to turn this over and quite thinking about it.
Have a great week. I really miss my blog buddies that aren't writing as much. (Like I have room to talk.) Inquiring minds still want to know what's on your mind(s).

Still a dizzy blonde.
I'm a working woman again. Having a bit more routine is good but tiring. I really thought that things would be a little smoother without the students. Silly girl!
It's been good to see everyone and also to see how many teachers are pregnant this year. Last year, I believe we had 7 babies. So far this year, we have 5 pregnant teachers including one who is having twins. All those years that I tried to get pregnant and who knew that all I had to do was become a teacher. (No cards and letters please. Just kidding.)
One thing I had not counted on was a new immunization schedule that so many parents have ignored until now. The local clinics are out of one of the vaccines and without it, students will not be allowed to start school. Automated calls have been going out and I have been fielding calls ALL day from upset parents who say this was the first that they knew about it. Of course there were several letters sent out LAST YEAR; signs on the entrances LAST YEAR; notices on the websites since LAST YEAR; articles in the newspapers since LAST YEAR, and it is now all over the TV. Now we get to personally call each family that has a student in non-compliance and remind them that their student will not be allowed to start school without the vaccines. Good luck in finding it! What a mess! I feel more sorry for the students that will be dropped off on Monday and told that they need to call their parents for a ride back home. The kids always feel so guilty and embarrassed themselves. This is one of those situations when I wish I worked in a back office and could hide.
I'm still having issues with vertigo. Thursday I had the "procedure" done which went off really pretty smoothly. I was not to lie down for 48 hours afterwards. I was a good girl....for most of that time. I slept in a recliner that night and early the next evening we left to see our son. We pulled into the hotel at 1 a.m. I had every intention of sleeping in the lounge chair, but when I looked at it... Anyway, I was really tired and decided that 36 hours had to be enough. I was delighted when I was not dizzy. Saturday night, I actually realized that I was looking up at the stars. Slowly, the dizziness is returning. I'm mad at myself and have to call the doc this week for a follow up. She had said up front that it sometimes takes two treatments, but I feel like I brought it on myself. Anyway, at least I have seen that it can work. That's a very good thing!

I have a screw loose.
It was medically confirmed today. I have a screw loose. That how my smart-mouth doctor put it. (Actually, I enjoy her smart mouth. She's fun.) The daily bouts of vertigo that started at end of June have continued. I finally had enough and scheduled an appointment. Truthfully, I have been a little scared to go. The way our lives have gone the last few years....well, you understand. My imagination had run away with thoughts of fitting in brain surgery.
Anyway, you go to the doctor and tell them about being dizzy when you lie down or move your neck up or down and what do they want? They want to see you really, really dizzy. That was easy enough to accommodate, but they almost got to see me really, really vomiting as well. I went there feeling fine and left there feeling like hell. So the diagnosis, in a nutshell, is that there are little crystals broken off from somewhere in my inner ear and are floating around to where they are not suppose to be, telling my brain that my world is spinning. (Hence the loose screw.) There is a name for all of this but I like my description better.
I go back tomorrow for a "procedure" that is suppose to direct those little suckers back to where they belong and if I don't lie down or bend over for 2-3 days, hopefully they will re-absorb. (The recliner will be my friend.) Then we get to go back in about a week and do it all again. Oh, boy! I have no idea how this "procedure" is actually done and I probably don't want to know until I'm there. She and the other doc were concerned that I wouldn't be able to tolerate the "procedure" because I got so sick today. They gave me a Valium to take before. Not only does it relax, it is suppose to be good for vertigo. I've never taken Valium before so if I get on the computer and start typing it up....please bear with me. A friend is driving me tomorrow and she is hoping for blackmail material.
After all of this today, I felt the need for some loving. So, I got a pedicure. :) I got to sit there and listened to this maybe 100-pound nail tech complain that she was so-o-o-o fat. I should of kicked her. I also got my brows waxed so that brought me back to reality.
So the jest of the day is:
1) My toes look good again.
2) I didn't hurt anyone today.
3) No one told me I had a brain tumor.
Twas a good day!

Muddy Waters
I'm pretty scattered these days. Our house is on the market so I am doing the "perpetual cleaning dance". YUCK! We just got back from a house hunting trip. We found some good houses; each in a different city. We haven't found the "perfect" house, but there is one that is a favorite. We found the areas beautiful and the people really friendly. Hub is enjoying his work.
We are starting to feel apprehensive about the move. Surprisingly, we found the real estate to be quite a bit higher than where we are. I came back and looked up cost of living comparisons and the numbers confirm it, too. (Not sure why I didn't do that before.) We are planning on downsizing so somehow I thought that we could come out closer to even. Anyway, seeing what it is going to take to get a smaller, comparable house there is a little depressing. This is suppose to be our retirement house....someday.
Anyway, this is all a leap of faith. We have really felt good about it until now. I hate second guessing. It's unproductive. I think that having a new environment for our son to come home to will be a positive. Our home now has many happy memories, but it has some very bad ones, too. We all have been looking at this as a new start. So-o-o-o if the house sells immediately, I'm not sure what we will do. If it doesn't sell immediately, I'm not sure what we will do. Nothing like a big dose of indecision.
This is my last week at home before school starts for me. The kids have another week off. This summer has gone so fast. I'm really not ready for it to be over. It's not the work....it's just doing it for 8 hours a day that bothers me. ;) How will I fit it in?
We are going to see our son this coming weekend. That will be another 6 hours each way. I think my backside must be attached to a car. We have had so many car trips lately.
I'm anxious to see how he is doing. His birthmother was suppose to come see him for the first time this past weekend. She was driving from two states over and at the last minute she got a job for the weekend. As the saying goes..."she doesn't have a pot to piss in" and needed the money. What a place and situation to meet your birthmother. He was excited and she was, too. I'm sure he's hurt. I don't know if he got her letter that she couldn't come before the weekend. At 41, she is still a mess and sometimes we see the same thinking processes in our son. Scarey! I think she has a good heart, but no sense whatsoever. Our son gave her Hub's cell phone number so they have talked several times during the past 2-3 months. My son is trying to protect my feelings. (I did hear him call her Mom and truthfully that did hurt. He's in a tough place.) Actually, I am more afraid that she will show up on our doorstep wanting us to take her in. She made us a family and we will be eternally grateful for that. But she could be a disaster.
Well, that probably takes care of the highlights. I have been keeping up with everyone's blogs but haven't found a lot of words to write myself. My little mind is muddled. (That's a good word!) And maybe befuddled. (Better word!)
