I CAN NOT believe it has been so long since I last posted. I haven't fallen off of the world, but sometimes it has seemed like the world has been falling in on us. Pity party for one here. :) I've been reading all of your posts, but somehow just haven't had the inspiration to write anything. So much is going on with so many.
So just to catch up:
House still has not sold. In fact, it hasn't even been shown in a month until today. We have had so much rain and yucky days around here. This weekend has been gorgeous and we had an early showing with less than an hour notice. Whew! We have taken the price down to where we will lose a little of our investment just trying to make it move. Terrible time to be selling. Realtors say that there are just too many foreclosures. Our company wants us moved by the first of the year.
Seems pretty strange to be pushing to get the house sold, as I feel less and less like moving. I'm just really confused right now. Hub really likes his job and is getting lots of accolades for what he is doing. This is a great place for him professionally and I know that it really will be a good place to live. This is just taking such a toll on us as a family/couple right now. He has only been home two/three days a week for a long time now. It's getting really old. I'm feeling abandoned and he seems less comfortable and natural being his role of dad/hub. We are also seeing changes in our son now in both grades and attitudes. Some is just his age and natural changes but our circumstances are in there, too. It's hard on all of us. Even called the counselor that we use to see when things first started going so badly with our son. Decided that we needed to talk to someone. Found out that he had retired since we last saw him. You ever feel like Ziggy?
Things are going better at my work. It's busier than ever with ever-changing new technology coming in. In the past two weeks, I have had new cameras and two new security systems installed. One system required that I have a second complete computer at my desk. I am so totally wired. How many times have I moved the wrong mouse or grabbed the wrong keyboard!
I also feel a little better about my standing with administration. I work with some totally amazing people....and a couple of really childish witches. I was warned early on about one of them being a cancer in the staff and that the other had not got along others in my position. Didn't see it at that time but thought it was strange since the person telling me this had the authority to terminate. Anyway, the claws were really coming out and I had made the decision long ago not to let them have any power over me and to just ignore. I have to say that I'm a bit proud of myself that I have stayed on the high road. It also keeps you focused on your own work that has its own rewards. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I had to take off unexpectedly when my son was sick. We have all been there and I even came in for the morning since it was an especially busy day and short notice. The principal approved my leaving and thanked me for coming in. That Saturday, I received a nasty e-mail from her secretary letting me know how my leaving had inconvenienced her. It went on in great detail over the silliest things and ending with a happy face (???). I must have read that thing 25 times still not believing what I was reading. She even copied the principal. Anyway, I cooled my jets and Monday afternoon had a private meeting with the principal out of the office. She said that she was appalled when she received the e-mail; had been mulling it over the weekend, and had already had a meeting with the administrative staff. She had not been certain where some things were originating from in the office until then. She was very supportive and let me know that changes were going to be made. Some realignment took place the next day and the secretary was suddenly ill and absent from work for a day. Anyway, I really watch my back even closer which probably is good for efficiency at the end of the day. The "powers that be" have been super supportive and reassuring which of course makes me feel better.
My older son's birthmother did finally visit him. She called us after she got back and was really happy. Seems that it went well. At least she came back calling him by his given name instead of the nickname she had given him and kept calling him. Hub went down to see him this weekend so I will get my son's take on the visit tomorrow. Even when he was a baby, I thought about how it would be for us all to meet and I always promised him that I would be there to support him. Never dreamed this would be situation when it happened. Hopefully, all of this will help him answer questions of his heart that I know he has. Still it is a lot to handle. 9 more months.....
My younger son turned 12 recently and has started THAT change that kids go through. Wish I could just seal him up until this is over with. There was a social at his school last night and he had asked a girl to go with him (translates to hang out with him at the social). She says yes; then hangs out with her girlfriends wanting him to follow them around; texts him about "just being friends" (drama queen); son comes home in bad mood; goes immediately up to his bedroom and then stays up their sulking. His first of many heartbreaks. He doesn't have a clue.
Well it is late again. There goes the plans for an early bedtime.
Later.

That and this.
I'm going to borrow from a friend and just bullet this post. Seems a little how my mind is functioning these days.
* Still dizzy. Doc's office isn't open when I'm off and I can't seem to find a time at work to make a personal phone call. Seems to be a little less but still there. Hub actually got to see the eye action during a spell last night. Rather strange.
* First week of school and they finally installed a new phone system that was promised last year. It's really pretty neat except for the fact that it was full of kinks, nobody really knew how to work it (including me) and each tech is giving a different answer. I have lost more phone calls this week. I'm sure it will be fabulous...eventually.
* Also received a new computer tower this week. One problem though was that when they said that they would transfer everything, I thought they meant files, too. OOPS! I've been hunting all of my favorites that I take for granted.
* I feel like such a klutz! One night this week, I had my glass of water and was heading up to bed. My little shih tzu starting racing up and knocked me down. I caught myself on the stairs with my forearm and now it is still swollen and bruised. Slept with an ice pack all night. It will soon be a lovely shade of green.
* Sleeping with an ice pack was really a pretty good thing as the upstairs a/c went out that night. (I really think that our house is rebelling.) I called the repairman and made an appointment for late the next afternoon so that I wouldn't have to take a day of vacation. He came two hours early and our son was home alone with him. Didn't like that situation and then what he said was broken had already been replaced before. I told him to check with his office and call me. Instead he just replaced it and left me a bill for $264. Anyway, when I got off I went straight to the a/c office and visited with the owner. Nicest guy in the world. He was quite apologetic, tore up the bill and is sending a specialist out next week to make sure that we are all good. It doesn't get any better than that. He's my guy! :)
* Last week Hub was out of state on business. He actually was flying in and out of the city that my son's birthmom lives in. We didn't talk about it before, but I knew he would do it. He called her and went over to meet her. After 21 years, this is still so strange. She was thrilled. She even fixed him dinner and then he had her boyfriend take a picture of the two of them together and sent it to our son. He freaked out a little. Said that seeing his Dad with his birthmom and not me, just looked wrong. Anyway, we are all plowing through this new unknown territory.
* We are really re-thinking the move. Not sure how much choice we have, but we are not necessarily pushing the house to sell. So confusing. One day we think that the change is so good and we want to move and then the next day, it is a whole other story. Hub did hear from a colleague that another district manager may be leaving which would open up a district close to here. In fact, it is where we both lived when we met and we still have lots of friends there. He might not even have to move to take it. It's just a rumor and thought. I really have to turn this over and quite thinking about it.
Have a great week. I really miss my blog buddies that aren't writing as much. (Like I have room to talk.) Inquiring minds still want to know what's on your mind(s).

Still a dizzy blonde.
I'm a working woman again. Having a bit more routine is good but tiring. I really thought that things would be a little smoother without the students. Silly girl!
It's been good to see everyone and also to see how many teachers are pregnant this year. Last year, I believe we had 7 babies. So far this year, we have 5 pregnant teachers including one who is having twins. All those years that I tried to get pregnant and who knew that all I had to do was become a teacher. (No cards and letters please. Just kidding.)
One thing I had not counted on was a new immunization schedule that so many parents have ignored until now. The local clinics are out of one of the vaccines and without it, students will not be allowed to start school. Automated calls have been going out and I have been fielding calls ALL day from upset parents who say this was the first that they knew about it. Of course there were several letters sent out LAST YEAR; signs on the entrances LAST YEAR; notices on the websites since LAST YEAR; articles in the newspapers since LAST YEAR, and it is now all over the TV. Now we get to personally call each family that has a student in non-compliance and remind them that their student will not be allowed to start school without the vaccines. Good luck in finding it! What a mess! I feel more sorry for the students that will be dropped off on Monday and told that they need to call their parents for a ride back home. The kids always feel so guilty and embarrassed themselves. This is one of those situations when I wish I worked in a back office and could hide.
I'm still having issues with vertigo. Thursday I had the "procedure" done which went off really pretty smoothly. I was not to lie down for 48 hours afterwards. I was a good girl....for most of that time. I slept in a recliner that night and early the next evening we left to see our son. We pulled into the hotel at 1 a.m. I had every intention of sleeping in the lounge chair, but when I looked at it... Anyway, I was really tired and decided that 36 hours had to be enough. I was delighted when I was not dizzy. Saturday night, I actually realized that I was looking up at the stars. Slowly, the dizziness is returning. I'm mad at myself and have to call the doc this week for a follow up. She had said up front that it sometimes takes two treatments, but I feel like I brought it on myself. Anyway, at least I have seen that it can work. That's a very good thing!

I have a screw loose.
It was medically confirmed today. I have a screw loose. That how my smart-mouth doctor put it. (Actually, I enjoy her smart mouth. She's fun.) The daily bouts of vertigo that started at end of June have continued. I finally had enough and scheduled an appointment. Truthfully, I have been a little scared to go. The way our lives have gone the last few years....well, you understand. My imagination had run away with thoughts of fitting in brain surgery.
Anyway, you go to the doctor and tell them about being dizzy when you lie down or move your neck up or down and what do they want? They want to see you really, really dizzy. That was easy enough to accommodate, but they almost got to see me really, really vomiting as well. I went there feeling fine and left there feeling like hell. So the diagnosis, in a nutshell, is that there are little crystals broken off from somewhere in my inner ear and are floating around to where they are not suppose to be, telling my brain that my world is spinning. (Hence the loose screw.) There is a name for all of this but I like my description better.
I go back tomorrow for a "procedure" that is suppose to direct those little suckers back to where they belong and if I don't lie down or bend over for 2-3 days, hopefully they will re-absorb. (The recliner will be my friend.) Then we get to go back in about a week and do it all again. Oh, boy! I have no idea how this "procedure" is actually done and I probably don't want to know until I'm there. She and the other doc were concerned that I wouldn't be able to tolerate the "procedure" because I got so sick today. They gave me a Valium to take before. Not only does it relax, it is suppose to be good for vertigo. I've never taken Valium before so if I get on the computer and start typing it up....please bear with me. A friend is driving me tomorrow and she is hoping for blackmail material.
After all of this today, I felt the need for some loving. So, I got a pedicure. :) I got to sit there and listened to this maybe 100-pound nail tech complain that she was so-o-o-o fat. I should of kicked her. I also got my brows waxed so that brought me back to reality.
So the jest of the day is:
1) My toes look good again.
2) I didn't hurt anyone today.
3) No one told me I had a brain tumor.
Twas a good day!

Muddy Waters
I'm pretty scattered these days. Our house is on the market so I am doing the "perpetual cleaning dance". YUCK! We just got back from a house hunting trip. We found some good houses; each in a different city. We haven't found the "perfect" house, but there is one that is a favorite. We found the areas beautiful and the people really friendly. Hub is enjoying his work.
We are starting to feel apprehensive about the move. Surprisingly, we found the real estate to be quite a bit higher than where we are. I came back and looked up cost of living comparisons and the numbers confirm it, too. (Not sure why I didn't do that before.) We are planning on downsizing so somehow I thought that we could come out closer to even. Anyway, seeing what it is going to take to get a smaller, comparable house there is a little depressing. This is suppose to be our retirement house....someday.
Anyway, this is all a leap of faith. We have really felt good about it until now. I hate second guessing. It's unproductive. I think that having a new environment for our son to come home to will be a positive. Our home now has many happy memories, but it has some very bad ones, too. We all have been looking at this as a new start. So-o-o-o if the house sells immediately, I'm not sure what we will do. If it doesn't sell immediately, I'm not sure what we will do. Nothing like a big dose of indecision.
This is my last week at home before school starts for me. The kids have another week off. This summer has gone so fast. I'm really not ready for it to be over. It's not the work....it's just doing it for 8 hours a day that bothers me. ;) How will I fit it in?
We are going to see our son this coming weekend. That will be another 6 hours each way. I think my backside must be attached to a car. We have had so many car trips lately.
I'm anxious to see how he is doing. His birthmother was suppose to come see him for the first time this past weekend. She was driving from two states over and at the last minute she got a job for the weekend. As the saying goes..."she doesn't have a pot to piss in" and needed the money. What a place and situation to meet your birthmother. He was excited and she was, too. I'm sure he's hurt. I don't know if he got her letter that she couldn't come before the weekend. At 41, she is still a mess and sometimes we see the same thinking processes in our son. Scarey! I think she has a good heart, but no sense whatsoever. Our son gave her Hub's cell phone number so they have talked several times during the past 2-3 months. My son is trying to protect my feelings. (I did hear him call her Mom and truthfully that did hurt. He's in a tough place.) Actually, I am more afraid that she will show up on our doorstep wanting us to take her in. She made us a family and we will be eternally grateful for that. But she could be a disaster.
Well, that probably takes care of the highlights. I have been keeping up with everyone's blogs but haven't found a lot of words to write myself. My little mind is muddled. (That's a good word!) And maybe befuddled. (Better word!)

I'm ADD today.
I can waste more time than I should ever admit to. Is anyone else like that? I need to have a computer free day. Where do I sign up for realtor.com anonymous? One link leads to another and another and another. The really stupid thing is that probably none of the houses I'm looking at will be available when I need it.
I've got all kinds of projects going on around here. Do I sound a little ADD or what? I went out an bought paint today to freshen up. I had taken a piece of sheet rock in to be color matched and I was really excited in the store when the man showed me how well he matched it. I also bought some semi-gloss of the same color to freshen up my pantry shelves. Opened it tonight...pure white. He hadn't tinted it. Another trip to the store tomorrow. Yea!
I went by the school today. I have to start back in less than a month. The routine of that is good for me, but I'm not looking forward to it. I also don't look forward to keeping the secret that we will be moving. I hate not knowing a time line.
We went to see our son this weekend. Our handsome boy. He really looked good. We had a nice visit. The last 15 minutes of it though totally broke my heart...one more time. We were chatting and all of a sudden he just got quiet and sadly said "I miss you guys so much." It was almost like he was thinking out loud. A very simple statement that meant so much. He always tries to put on the brave face. He usually doesn't let us see how very hard that part is on him. He opens up in his letters, but just tells us not to worry when we are face to face. We keep trying to look ahead until next year. He has many, many more challenges ahead of him. Right now though I just ache to hold him.

It's just my opinion. Welcome to it.
Anyone watch the special about the Jackson family? It makes me so sad and, at the same time, mad. Although I was a huge fan of his music, I have to say I was not a big fan of MJ the person. But after watching his father, Joe Jackson, use this time to promote himself on TV, I have to feel sorry for all of the Jackson family. What an obnoxious slime ball! He's pond scum! He's slimey hot dog water! I've heard the stories about him being abusive, but the man is nuts. How can someone use their children like that in the name of love? It's more like the name of money. What an example of the evil of the "love of money".
It seems to me that maybe those three little children were the one place that MJ tried to get it right. My heart breaks for them. They are innocent and so vulnerable. Seems like MJ did try to give them a childhood in the middle of such insanity. He obviously gave them lots of love and attention.
The documentary brought out that Kathryn Jackson is already raising five of her grandchildren. What's that about? She seems like a nice lady and I know she has all of the help that money can buy, but that it is huge undertaking for anyone, much less for a 79 year old woman. She needs to be grand mothering, not mothering. She may be the only stable Jackson, but where are their parents? Are they too busy with plastic surgeons to take responsibility for their own?
And while I'm at it, there is Debbie Rowe. Her lack of a maternal instinct is just foreign to me. I just don't get her story. I deal with trying to help my sons understand their birthparents and not feel rejected, but she is a whole other subject. Probably good that they don't have much of a relationship with her. How do you make sense of that one? Years of intense therapy ahead.
Once again, children have fallen victim to selfishness, narcissism and ignorance. It happens every day to the famous and the not so famous. I feel ashamed of all the times that I have taken for granted or not been thankful enough for my own children and also to have had imperfect parents that loved me dearly.
Of course, if you use Joe Jackson as the measure....I'm a fabulous parent!
Hug your kids.

Here I am.....there I go.
No, I didn't drop off the face of the earth...I just thought about it. I've tried to keep up with everyone whether just reading or reading and commenting.
We got back in late last night from our family reunion. We had such a great time. Many of our nieces and nephews are now young adults and they are entirely cool. I just love spending time with them. Most of the 22 of us were staying in this sprawling log cabin on 8 acres that my sis-in-law owns. One nephew brought an RV and there were a couple of hotel rooms. There was boating, jet skies, ping pong, softball, cut-throat board game competitions, fireworks, good food, way too much to drink, lots of laughs, lots of love and very little sleep. It doesn't get much better.
I came very close to not being able to go though. I developed a pretty severe sinus infection and effected my inner ear and equilibrium. I passed out Sunday morning but then was fine in the afternoon. Monday and Tuesday were totally different. I was reeling and vomiting. It was miserable. I couldn't lay down or move my head. My esophagus was ripped from stomach acids. (TMI? Hey, I've listened to all your PMS and poop stories!!) Anywho, Hub took me to the doctor on Tuesday. She gave me a shot and 3 scripts and sent me home. I couldn't drive on (or off for that matter) the medicine. Hub was determined that we would still leave on Wednesday. He did most of the packing (SHOCK!) and all of the driving and we headed out after lunch on Wednesday. Gradually, the dizziness subsided with just an occasional spell. A truly dizzy blonde. Hee-hee!
It was confirmed last Monday that we will be moving. The questions of when and exactly where, etc. have yet to be determined, but we know we are going. We will probably land somewhere close to Little Rock, AR just because of the major highways. "When" will be determined by us getting this house on the market and sold. Luckily, we are not under pressure to be there NOW. Our relo package is good for a year but we will be moving forward with it. I wish I could wiggle my nose and it would be over.
We stopped over for a night in Arkansas on the way to the family reunion and looked at a few houses. It is a beautiful area and the cool evenings were a welcomed relief from our 100+ days.
I'm sure this will be a good move for our family but it seems so very strange to think about it. First, I'm such a Texan. I mean REALLY a Texan and we are planning this to be our last move. We want to be prepared to stay in this house until our son graduates and we retire. No pressure. Also, we have been here for 9-1/2 years. When we moved here, I had two sons in our home and my baby was two. A lot has changed. It will probably be a good thing for our older son to come home to a different area, yet I feel so sad about doing the move without him. It feels like he won't have his place with us. He may not due to his own choosing or actions, but this house is still "home" to him. It's where he dreams of coming back to. Unfortunately, he still has one more year to go.
Life takes such strange turns. I know that God has the Plan and road map, but right now I just feel I've lost my way a bit.

One of those days......
Wish I could say that I had been totally productive this week; but that would be such a lie. Hub has been out of town and I have wasted WAY too much time looking at real estate online. Give me a subject like that and I get so OCD. We probably won't even know if we are moving until July.
We are on one of those rolls where everything seems to happen at once. After last week, I thought we were good for awhile. My younger son has been running fever the last two nights. A little sluggish, but okay during the day and then yucky with a temp of 101.5 at night. I've done the old Tylenol/Motrin routine, but it really hasn't responded too much so I decided to take him to the doc on Friday. (He is SO dramatic when he is sick. I can't take it all weekend.)
Let me back up though. Thursday evening, I decided to jump in the car and go pick us up some fast food for dinner. No battery - no go. (Always happens when Hub is out of town.) My car only has 35,000 miles on it and we had to change the battery out last May. Think we have a problem? I got out the electric battery charger and started reading directions, then called Hub. (I can be such a GIRL!) I have a very healthy respect (fear) of plugging this thing in wrong and exploding the car. He just tells me to put red on red and black on black. Of course my battery doesn't have red or black. My son tells me to put the positive to the negative and vice versa. Glad I didn't listen to him! Anyway, finally sucked it up, held my breath, and turned it on. I am woman hear me roar!!! I had power and we had fast food! Tried the car again before I went to bed last night....nothing.
I woke up this morning at 5:30 and got up since I had a lot going on. Had a cup of coffee, checked out the newspaper, e-mailed the car dealership to tell them I would be there, put a load of towels in (now I'm rolling) and then brushed out my dog as he had an 8:30 grooming appointment. While brushing him I noticed that he had been chewing one of his paws. He had chewed the fur off in a spot and it looked infected. Yuck! Took my shower and dressed, woke up the boy and then went outside to get my trusty battery charger and conquer this demon once again. Then I realized that I had pulled the car too far up into the garage and I could not open the hood due to the vice sticking out on the workbench. I decided that I would put the car in neutral and try to rock it back a bit. Like right! I put the car in neutral and tried to start it one more time...and it started. (God looks after the ignorant.) Got my purse, the boy, the dog and ran out the door before my car died again. On the way to the groomer, I called the pediatrician and made an appointment for 9:45. The car dealership had no loaner cars, so I ended up having to call a car rental for a car for the day. Zoomed to the doc where they did strep and flu testing, but found nothing. Bring him back Monday if he's not better. As we left there, the groomer called for us to pick up. She found another place on the dog and said it looks like he is having an alergic reaction to something. Went from there to the vet where they could not get him in until tomorrow at 9:00. Came home and got a call about the car that they had replaced the battery again and needed my permission to do a few more things. Of course they did!
Oh well. Hub made it home safely; I now have my own car and the world is better. Especially after we stopped off for Mexican food and a really good maragrita on the way home. Ole'.

Whew!!!
Just when you think you know what's going on, LIFE steps in. I have been a busy bee of a domestic goddess. Just a little excited to be off work and home. I know this will pass soon. Finally realized Tuesday evening that it wasn't just me that was hot, it was the house. Downstairs A/C was not working. Called A/C man in the morning to come out. I had already set up an appointment with a man to give me an estimate on tinting my windows facing the West. I was excited about this. I had decided that tint was going to be the answer to my dreams. The bid was even a little lower than I thought it would be. YEA! Then as he was leaving, enter the A/C man. To make a long story short, new unit to a tune of $5300. BIG BOO HOO! They came yesterday to put that big boy in. Took most of the day and I really was hot. Finally, got it in and then it was time to shower for the evening.
It was a crazy night. Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, etc. All of the things that people hear about our part of the country. Generally, we just watch. We left for son's baseball pizza party just as it was getting started up(6:30). Probably not the smartest thing to have done. We ate pizza and watched the storm. When we started back about 8:15, we saw branches and several fences blown down. Our power went out about 8:45 and didn't come back on until the wee hours of the morning. We played cards by candlelight, read and then I went outside to the gazebo with a candle and watched the rain. My son came out for awhile and we talked about....mostly nothing. It was good.
I got up to see what time it was at 6AM, went back to bed, and immediately the power went off again. Stayed off until 11AM when it was met with hoops and hollers by my son. (City kids can't take that too very long.) Still haven't opened refrigerators to see what is going on in there. Hoping for the best.
At 9:00 this morning, the cute window tinting people came. I had called the owner and told him that due to the A/C, we couldn't do all of them at this time. I would still do the large one over the door that we (translates "I") deemed as necessary. It looks amazing.
THEN....around 11:30, Hub calls and wants me to shoot him a copy of his resume. His boss has suggested that he put a bid in for a couple of positions that are coming up. Knew this was a possibly but wasn't ready for it now. One would be back to Arkansas (the other business plan didn't work out)and the other would be to an area that we have always thought we would like to go back to. He is more of a long shot for the latter, but it would be a coo.
Anyway, can't wait to see what happens this afternoon!!!!

TIME
I haven't posted in so-o-o-o-o long. I have thought about it....I have thought about things I wanted to share....I've sat down and read your blogs.....but that is as far as I've gotten. I've been a bad blogger friend.
I have really been waiting for today. I thought it would never come. It was like waiting for Christmas Day when you're a kid. It is finally here. YEA! Today was my last day of school. A two and a half month break is so very welcomed right now. I have missed my house. Looking around, I think it missed me too. :) I have so many little things that I want to accomplish around here. A few big ones, too.
It seems that the older I get, the more important time is to me. Sometimes I'm very stingy with it. I've learned to say "no" and not even feel guilty. (At least not all of the time.) There are so many things that pull on our time. All of the "have-to" things. i.e. work, kid's sports activities, laundry, LIFE issues, etc. I'm really trying to remember how important just a little "me" time is. Sometimes also a little "we" time. The other night Hub was out of town. I had the dishwasher, the washing machine and dryer all doing their thing/s while I was on the computer checking work e-mail. My son was quietly building with Legos by himself at the kitchen table. I turned around and took a look at this scenario. I turned off the computer and told my son "Get out your Uno cards. Mommy's fixing to take you on." Just what both of us needed. Mindless fun time. In case you are wondering, he actually creamed me on 4 out of 6 hands of cards. Time....priceless.
So a quick summary of what has been going on for the last month:
Went to see son - he looked better.
Attended (chaperoned)8th grade banquet - 14 year olds in 4-inch heels and semi-formals with cleavage. Oh my!
Took a weekend trip to see family - fun.
Pulled a ligament in my knee - no fun.
Had a birthday - Yikes!
Re-injured knee and spent birthday afternoon/evening having MRI & x-rays - YUCK!
Decorated Hub's new office - turned out well.
Received calls for the first time from older son's birthmother - (After 21 years, that's a story within its self.)
Went to a Women's Professional Football game - surprisingly fun.
Talked to a blog friend on the telephone - will have to do this again!
Took son to see the movie "Up" in 3D - three thumbs up!
I will probably be expounding on some of this later, but right now is "Me" time. I'm going to bed and dream of summer.

I may like playing the princess!
We got back last night from our little getaway to San Antonio. My luggage however didn't return until late this afternoon after taking a little side trip to Baltimore. Thank you American Airlines.
We had a fabulous time. Hub could have done no more to make me feel really special. Our hotel was so cool and our room even better. This is a historical hotel and has been kept completely grand. The lobby looked like a grand ballroom with huge crystal chandeliers and large columns. Notice the chandelier compared to the baby grand piano on the left.
There were pictures around of celebrities and events that had been there, including Princess Grace and Prince Ranier of Monoco, Maria Shriver and Arnold S., Texas governors, and many others that I can't remember. The staff took wonderful care of us.
Our suite was almost as big as our first house. It had a foyer that opened into a formal dining room.
When I walked in, the first thing I saw of the table was a bottle of champagne and the most beautiful yellow roses. Hub had ordered chocolate covered strawberries, but they substituted a fruit and cheese plate.
Is he good, or what?
This suite absolutely reminded me of old Hollywood. There was a living room with two large camel back sofas, Queen Anne chairs, art work, mirrors....okay, so the plasma TV looked out of place.

The bedroom was huge and had a big four poster bed. The bed looked like a big marshmallow with all of the fluffy white bedding and pillows. It was so high off of the floor that I literally had to hike a leg up to get in. (Attractive picture, huh. It was up to my waist.) Hub took some running leaps and did belly flops. What a big kid! :) The bathroom showed that this hotel was built in the 40/50's. It was smallish with one sink but was decorated really a bit art deco with black marble floor and black and white tile. Add a big walk-in closet and that is about it.
I probably sound like a big goober that has never been anywhere and I know that this is more detail than anyone will care about. This hotel was just so different to me. I'm sure that there have been many, many weddings there. The 10th floor had a huge terrace that could make for amazing parties/receptions. It was even suppose to be haunted. Just a good ploy to get the tourists.
Room service breakfast in bed has always been my sinful pleasure. Nothing better and they brought us some fabulous ones. They even rolled it in on a cart instead of bringing a tray like most hotels. I made Hub look under the table cloth. In the movies, there was always someone hiding under cart. :)
We did just what we needed to do for a 26th anniversary. We talked, talked, talked and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. We took the obligatory river cruise and took some pictures in the same places that we remembered taking pictures on our honeymoon. We spent a lazy day wandering around and relaxing at outdoor restaurants with a margarita...or two. (You didn't think I would tell you EVERYTHING, did you?)
Yes, I really did feel like a princess. Our suite was on the corner and this is the view out of one side. It's a lovely church steeple from across the street but I can imagine that it is a castle tower.
Out the other side, there was a beautiful city park. There I couldn't help but notice homeless people while I was looking down from my castle. Brings you right down to reality. There by the grace of God.....
Happy Mother's Day, Y'all!

Where's my mask? I'm flying.
I'm really sick of listening to everything about this "piggie flu". I probably answered too many weird calls about it last Friday. I just sent them on to the nurse. (That was satisfying in a weird sort of way.)
I have a busy, yet fun week ahead. Thursday will be my 26th wedding anniversary. Man that sounds crazy long. I sound like a fossil! Anyway, Hub is leaving tomorrow morning on a business trip to the place we went on our honeymoon. (I'm sure it's a God-thing coincidence.) He will be done with meetings on Wednesday, so I am going to fly down and meet him. We will be back Friday afternoon. Short and sweet. It will be fun. My son is going to stay with my niece. She likes to play Mom. He has a late baseball game Tuesday night with pictures before. That means he and I will be a the ballfield from about 6:00 until 10:30. (Yuck) I'll have to pack us both up Monday night.
Packing is always so stressful to me. I do it to myself. I love going places - and I do pack really neatly - but I just stress over if we have everything we need or if something is left on. Usually I take way too much. I envy and am actually a bit amazed at people who throw a few things in a duffel and go out the door. I have to do better due to airline restrictions. Hub is planning on checking a bag since he will be there all week, so I'm going to send a few things with him. Can you imagine someone he works with coming to his room and seeing women's clothes hanging there? Hee-hee.
We've had a lot of rain here. Everything will be really green soon. I need to get out and get some more annuals going. Usually I have spent a lot of time outside by now. This "working thing" is really cramping my style! That and baseball. I guess they're only young once though.
Have a happy week!
Hee-hee.

....and a good time was had by all.
I would like to clone today and use it all again. I got nothing really accomplished today, but I think that's okay. I'll make it up later.
I slept in until about 9:00 after turning off the alarm at 6:00. (Forgot to turn it off for the weekend. Oops!) Hubby brought me up my morning cappuccino and a warm donut. Sinful, but so-o-o-o good. Then after watching some HGTV and a couple of episodes of Snapped....I finally got out of bed. Yep, it was good!
Then I got clothes on; gathered up some laundry; came down stairs and looked at the paper with Hubby. One load actually made it to the dryer. He mowed the lawn. We visited with a neighbor. Then we sat on the back deck; had a couple of glasses of wine and some great conversation.
Later we came in and I spent some time looking online at hotels for a little trip will be taking soon. Fun stuff! Then we finally all got showers and dressed and went to a place called "Dave and Busters". It is kind of like "Chuck E. Cheese" but for adults, too. We have always liked it but our son had never been, so we took he and one of his buddies. The food is usually pretty good. I had the blackened tillapia. (Yum!) Then there are the games. They hyped up everyone. They have a World War I Flight Simulator and since Hub's a private pilot, you couldn't pull him away from that. The boys were doing the Dance Revolution games and anything else that they could shoot. I usually stick with the even more mindless games. I usually do pretty good at skee shot. Nothing tonight. Then there was a game where a ball fell into these spinning hole for you to get tickets. I got lucky and it went into the jackpot hole and I got 402 extra. That was enough tickets to make me a hit with the two boys.
So a day that starts out with a big case of lazy; throw in a cool breeze and wine with your best friend, Then going out and being a kid a Little. Like my mother always say; "And a good time was had by all!) Like I said, I would like to clone today and use it all again.

I need to throw up.
Why do some people just have to be mean spirited? I really don't think that God put in a mean spirited gene. It can't be fun. It really gets you nowhere. I would think that the thrill of bullying (if there is one) would be very short-lived. What's the payoff?
I witness it way too much. I see students doing it to each other. I see the referrals come in for discipline. I read them and just go "Huh? You did what?" Sometimes I see the victim looking pretty demoralized. When you are 13 and 14 everything is huge. You don't have to even be particularly nice to each other. Just quit being mean.
I think we teach our kids these ways of interacting. I see it all the time from parents. They want to know something about their kid and they come storming in demanding to see someone at that very instant. Almost everyone that works there is a parent. We get that we are dealing with our most precious resources. That's why we are there. I had a woman the other day mad because an assistant principal was in meetings all day and she would have to get an appointment or wait for her to call her back. She said "Well they are suppose to be here and available to the parents." In my sweetest voice I told her "No ma'am. Actually they are suppose to be here helping these students get a good education and that's what they are doing right now."
As you can tell, something really set me off today. Nurse Ratchett and her buddy swing hot and cold like the pendulum on a clock. One day very friendly and nice and then the next.... Never turn your back. I, along with others, came in to work today to find a small personal-sized cake at our desks fixed up really prettily and a card that said Happy Secretary's Day. No name. I took some bites and just bragged on it and then tried to find out who was the cake fairy. It was the Nurse! Should I have had a food taster? That was really a very nice thing to do. Then when I got back from lunch, I got this nasty, sarcastic e-mail from her buddy. She is suppose to catch the phones when I go to lunch and was out of her office when I was leaving. I asked someone else to catch them. They said where is so-and-so and I said that she was not in her office. That's it. Just an observation, not a criticism. No big deal. I don't know what this other gal said to her, but after lunch she wrote me that she had been in her office for a full 45 minutes before (no comment)and had just left for two minutes to go to the bathroom, and why would I say that I couldn't find her? I really hadn't given it that much thought. (Can you even believe we had this conversation?) She was the same one that said I needed to take a half day of my sick time when I left and hour early to take my son to the ortho. The scary thing is that she could go ahead a turn it in that way and wouldn't know it.
I am so very tired of this childish drama and today this little, stupid e-mail just pushed me over the edge. I was just about in tears of frustration. She has pulled many silly, petty annoyances on me, but this time....she put it in writing. I had asked the principal earlier to meet with me and look at some other things so I just took a copy of the email with me. I told her that I was so tired of having to look over my shoulder to keep from having issues and that it was getting harder to deal with. Anyway, I ended up being mad at myself. I always think that when you have a "gripe" meeting like that with a superior, you ought to have a outcome in mind that you are requesting/suggesting. Why am I telling her about this? What am I asking her to do about it? I really don't know. I don't think detention will work very well although I would be amusing to see. :) I felt like I was a kid "telling" on her. In the end, I still have a problem to work out but at least someone has seen a snippet of it with her own eyes.
Anyway this is today's segment of "As the Stomach Turns"; also known as "Just because you work in a middle school doesn't mean you have to act like it." Thanks for letting me throw up just a little. Between that and the margarita I had with dinner, I feel better now.

It's all in the newspaper
I'm really not sure why I feel the urge to post tonight. I have just been a dud this weekend. Just feeling a little blue. Everything seems just a little unbalanced. Hubby was in a mood, too. I guess we both just needed to be in our caves. I even saw in the newspaper today where a boy I knew as a child had passed away. Didn't even know that he lived up this way now.
Hubby use to laugh at me because when I have a little time on the weekends, I read the obituaries. No, I'm not looking for my name. I'm a little depressed, but not nuts. Anywho, people write the craziest things about their loved ones when they pass. Sometimes a little too much information. I'm still thinking about the one that talked about the man's love of his dogs and puppies. It said that they went with him to heaven! They sent his dogs with him???? On another they went on about what kind of beer that Aunt So-and-so really liked. Of course, most of them have a picture of the 92 year old person when they were 17. Does anyone really recognize them. Maybe I need to re-think my instructions to my hub to use the cleavage shot from Glamour Shots for mine.
I also read an article about a woman who lost her 21 year old son in a freak accident. She said that her son had always planned to get married and have children so she petitioned the courts to let her have his sperm taken and frozen. She wanted to use it with a surrogate and she said that several had already volunteered. She felt that he should have his wish. It wasn't clear to me if she wanted to raise these children or what. Her petition was granted and there's something new in the freezer. Have we all just gone nuts? She will probably be on one of the news show next week talking about it.
I did get a really neat surprise yesterday. My brother sat down and wrote basically his autobiography. I received in the mail a bound 100+ double-sided pages of his life story even illustrated with pictures. It was amazing! Out of everyone in my family, I still can't believe he was the one who did it. I called and asked him if he had been to a doctor and was there anything I should know. He made copies for his children and his two sisters. I even learned a few family stories in it. A few others were made clearer. When you're the youngest by several years, you miss out on a lot. Anyway, I treasure it and love and admire him even more for doing it. What a gift, especially for his children.
The Easter Bunny really took care of my eleven year old this year. The kid loves the color pink. He may just like the attention of it. He is quite the bruiser so it seems a little out of place for such a sweet color. Anyway, everything in his basket this year, including the grass, is pink. I can't wait to see him tomorrow. He will be howling. There is even a t-shirt rolled up with a pink ribbon that says something about the 5 reasons that he would wear a pink shirt. It ought to be fun.
It's late so I guess I should go to bed. Hope everyone has a good Easter Sunday tomorrow....oops, I should say today.

Spring is springing!
Although it has been a little cool today (by our Southern standards), it is getting to be the time of year that I probably love the most. Love those Spring afternoons when you get the first smells of cut grass and outside seems to be waking up. I balanced that today by updating my calendar with all of the ballgames my son will have this season. Between games and practices.....that's where I will be.
We had a little news this week. Looks like we will not have to move so soon. Evidently, someone with more seniority wants that district, so we are here for awhile. It is certainly a better plan for our family, but I always feel the need to know where I'm going to be next year. Also, in these uncertain economic times, I just want them to be totally invested in him.
We went to see our son last weekend and plan to go again next weekend. He looked alright. I still search his face for the little boy I raised, but instead there is a man, a young man, staring back. He seems so far away. Sometimes it hard to remember that one day this will end.
We got to have dinner last night with my brother-in-law and his partner. They were flying to Mexico and had an overnight layover here. It was a short visit but always fun to be with them. It also inspired the full-fledged cleaning of the working-woman's home. Guess a little extra incentive is always a good thing.
I'm really ready for summer vacation. I know that the next two months will be insanely busy at school. We have major testing weeks ahead and that just stresses out students and staff. I do enjoy being at school with the kids and "most" of the staff, but right now I miss being at home more. I feel like I don't do anything well around here and there is so much I want to do. Also, a couple of sour pusses at work can sure mess up a good day. I know that is anywhere you go, but I can hope for the perfect world, can't I?
I love the way our bathroom turned out that I redecorated. Now I am ready to start another room. This kind of thing drives Hub nuts! He likes the outcome, but he hates the getting there. Now I want to repaint the formal dining room. He says that he has painted it once and that's enough. But he also made the mistake of saying that if we hadn't moved by summer that he would do it. (Silly boy! He thought he had that one.) Anyway, this is one that I can't move the furniture by myself so he has to be involved. Then it will be on to the kitchen. I really want granite and new appliances. That is going to have to involve the money fairy though. Probably will have to happy with a little more paint.
Back to Facebook....why should anyone be interested in what your friends are doing every minute? I have friends that have busy, important jobs and there it is posted with all their daily "stuff". Where do you find the time and how much time am I expected to waste reading all of that? Sorry. I may love you, but I don't need to know that you are picking up the cleaning, etc. And what's the deal with sending charms, etc. I just don't get it. It's not like it's a blog or anything........

Twenty-one
Today my baby turned 21. We plan to go see him Sunday if they haven't moved him again. When they are moved, they can't have visitors for awhile. We found out that he had his wisdom teeth removed last week. (Does it get any better?) They had been bothering him, but he kept trying to put it off until he got out as the only thing he would be allowed for pain afterward is Tylenol. I guess it got to be too much.
My messages say that the adoption agency called while I was at work today. I will have to find a private moment to call them back tomorrow. I'm sure his birth mother has called wanting to know about him. I expected her to call. I thought about her today, too. We leave message through the agency. I always sent letters and pictures every year, but not now. The ball is in his court now. He's an adult. He has never written her. He has started to several times, but now he doesn't know what to say. I think he still wants to make her proud, too. What a struggle. He doesn't mind if I try to give her some kind of an update, but it is getting tougher to put in a positive light. She has had her own struggles and some of his weaknesses, as well as strengths, are from her. But she chose to give him life and made us a family so I will forever be in her debt.
If you are lucky enough to have your children close, please give them an extra hug. There are two mothers tonight missing their one son.

As the World Turns
Thanks for the kind words of support. Last Friday was a really tough day. The students were hurried to their homerooms as soon as they got to school. There a prepared statement was read that their classmate was gone. Everyone got the same info at the same time. There was lots of crying and phone calls to parents to pick them up. The library was set up with extra counselors as a "safe room" to go to to talk and cry. The counselors did a great job. Everything was in place to help the students just get through that day. I loved on lots of kids amid the busyness of the day. The toughest part to me was late in the day when the dad and sis brought the student's book to turn in. It made it all so real. There will be a memorial service for her this coming Wednesday night for the students.
Somehow it seems that all of this was enough to send me on over just a little into the depths of dealing with my own life issues. I don't mean to sound so melodramatic, but it has become a habit just to go on deal without dwelling on our different situations. I'm not sure which is healthier but this gets me through the days. The other route just seems to immobilize me.
My son turns 21 this week. It seems like we lost so many years of his life. Some were lost to drugs and some to prison. Sure wasn't the way we planned. I have been blessed to have a lot of letters from him that I would probably have never had. I was terrible about writing my mother. His letters show one of the neat sides of him that I love so much. His heart side.
So with all that said, this week is almost gone and I have lots of little projects started, and some even completed, but mostly a big mess. I need another week....or year. I just installed under cabinet lights over my computer desk in the kitchen. It's so nice to have my area bright, but man, where did this extra dust come from? I need to do something better with all of these wires, too. Yuck! Would like to have a laptop of my own in the future, but I have a really nice PC and I'm kind of bonded with it.
Yesterday, I got plastered. Actually, the walls in my downstairs bathroom did but I couldn't resist the lame joke. Hub went to Home Depot a little while ago to pick up my wonderful deep red paint so later tonight we will see what kind of a plaster job I really did.
Guess I need to get ready to paint. Hate the "getting ready" part!
Due to a special request, I have added an e-mail to this account. Write me.

You're safe.......
How do you tell a child that their friend is gone? How do you tell anyone for that matter? Tomorrow this will be done over and over again. Tomorrow 12, 13 and 14 year olds that heard the word "leukemia" only a few weeks ago will learn that this "word" has taken the life of their classmate. Many will come to school already knowing the news. Stories travel fast and after the announcement is made during first period, all will know. The words "extra counselors will be on site and available" will come to life. A "safe room" will be made available. Plans for 8th Grade Banquet and Graduation should, and were, being made. This plan wasn't "ours".
So tomorrow we have to be adults. We have to steer the children in a safe direction. We have to keep the privacy of a grieving family intact. You just want to scoop these kids all up in your arms and say "You're safe; this really sucks and I'm so sorry your hurting." But that's not exactly the way things have to be done these days. Too much legal water has gone under the bridge. Personal feelings are overshadowed by professional guidelines. "Let the professionals handle it" is the mantra. There will be concerned parents calling to know if their child is O.K. Heck, I don't know if I'm O.K.
So please stop and say a little prayer tomorrow for a grieving family and school. Pray that the "adults" will handle all of this in a compassionate way to help these students deal with a tough dose of life. Pray that all will know and feel "You're safe; this really sucks and I'm so sorry your hurting."

BA-A-A-A-D Blog Buddy
I am such a bad blog buddy. I've been keeping up with you guys and posting some, but when it comes to feeding my own blog.....my mind has been on hiatus. I have so many thoughts and feelings and issues going through my head right now that I can't seem to sort them out myself enough to even know how I feel. I guess the word of the day would be overwhelmed.
No word yet on moving. This has been such a good situation that I guess I haven't really trusted it yet. Although staying here would be great (and way easier), I don't think that until they put the commitment into us of relocating us will I feel that this is solid. And the word have even been spoken that they could move us to somewhere other than Arkansas. That's okay. It just guess my more to try and second guess. Until then, I still check out Arkansas real estate online daily. The list of what I want/need to do to the house to make it sell faster keeps growing. I can't get my hub fully on board with some of these projects. His thoughts are why do it until we know. My thought is why not enjoy some extra updates what ever and the fact that when that decision is made, he will be gone and I will be stuck with all of it.
School is busy-busy preparing for major testing next week. It is insane the lengths that we go to so that our testing will be beyond reproach. Everyone is stressed out. Then I have Cranky Nurse Ratchett (that's my name for her) that lurks around trying to catch me making mistakes and questioning even my smallest of decisions. Not that I'm beyond making them but it is really unsettling to know someone is hoping against you. From what I hear, she picks out a victim every year. She has even had a little success in running people off which is really strange given that she is over no one and actually doesn't have anyone that she has to work with closely other than spacial proximity. Just a very unhappy person determined to bring others down. Guess this should make me a better "worker bee".
Students and staff alike are so ready for spring break. I think everyone is counting the days. Just found out a couple of days ago that Hub flies out early Monday of Spring Break week and flies home at 11:30 pm of Friday. What stinky timing! Actually he will be gone most of the next four weeks.
We went to see our son last weekend. He looked better than he did before. His birthday will be in one month. His 21st birthday. It wasn't suppose to be this way.... It is just all too painful.
Younger son has started his baseball season. He loves the game and I love to watch him love it. He got with the coach we were hoping for and it looks like a good group of boys and a good group of parents. That is so nice since we will be spending a lot of time together for the next four months.
Did anyone see the graphic on the CNN yesterday of the octo-mom and how her body changed during pregnancy? We were at a restaurant and could see the TV in the bar last night and saw that. Weirdest thing I've ever seen. I bet this thing ends up going to the Supreme Court to figure out what to do. No one wins. It almost sounds sometimes like people are mad at these innocent babies, too. What a mess!
This weekend's Extreme Home Makeover was filmed just a few miles from our home. We went out while they were building it and have driven by since completion, but it will be interesting to see the inside. The family has kept the local media out of it. I guess due to contract stipulations. I may miss the first part due to a girlfriend's birthday dinner. (We are DVR and TIVO free.) She's going to have to eat fast! :)
Have a great weekend!

Question Marks
Right now my life seems to be full of question marks. Too much going on for me to get my head around.
Hub is about to finish the second week of his new job and he is really enjoying it. I'm so glad that he is back in his field. I'm not so sure that he realized how much it was "his field" until he left. He's happy as a clam! Last week he was in St. Louis, MO and he just flew back from being in Denver, CO this week. I think he is to be here the next. He had never been to Colorado and thought it was marvelous. He sent me some pictures and one of them was him in his Elmer Fudd hat that I told him he couldn't take. Although he was warm, I was embarrassed for him. His mother bought this hat for him a long time ago and he looks like such a hick in it. That hat has gotten to be a joke.
Right now it does look like a move is in our near future. His boss told him that he was being groomed to take a district in Arkansas around Hot Springs. This "could" happen in just 3-4 months. We have visited Hot Springs before and it is really beautiful. I just never thought of living there. It is really kind of a small town with as many tourists as there are residents. We have lived in large cities for so long so we will have some adjustments to make with that. Hub would be happy living in the wilderness. Me...not so much. (Can he move in with you, Rox?) Anyway, I have wasted a lot of time in the last couple of weeks looking at real estate on line. I did find a house that I really liked, but this is so premature. It's probably built on a terrible lot or something. Of course, it will be sold before we would need it. We really want to downsize, but it is hard to think of where to start trimming our "stuff".
Anyway, lots to think about. I am really stressing over moving before my son is released. I hate to leave this home that he is dreaming of being back to without him getting to walk through the door one more time. This would also make visits even more complicated. I know that we need to go on with what is best for our family, but I already think that he has some abandonment issues from his adoption.
Hub and I bought some new furniture a couple of weeks ago and it will be delivered tomorrow. (it's dangerous to go shopping after Mexican food and margaritas!!!) Although I think I am really going to like it, I wish we had not ordered it if we are moving to a new home. You never know what is going to work. I would of cancelled the order if they didn't have a 30% re-stocking charge. Isn't that nuts? The sofas are taupe leather so they will go with anything, but they are also large scale. Oh, well.
Guess I need to go to bed so that I can get up early in the morning. Guess what I bought my student aids for Valentine's. Candy and Valentine Tattoos!!! Tomorrow ought to be fun!

Good News, Bad News, Good News
I can't believe it has been so long since I wrote a post. There has been so much going on. This is such a good place for me to connect and also put my own thoughts in order that I need to be more diligent about keeping it up.
Hub did get the job that he wanted and actually had his last day at work today. He is taking off a couple of days and will start Monday. He is really excited. That makes me happy, too and will take a little pressure off of us. We don't know where this adventure will lead us yet. The execs had all asked him about relocation, but we also heard that there are opportunities right here. Being the planner that I am, I will be glad when he gets further into this and can maybe where our future will be. He will be travelling quite a bit, but we used to be very familiar with that. (Love those airline miles.) He will be heading to St. Louis, MO for a few days the first week.
I did not get to make the trip to see my son that I mentioned on my last post. Hub went on and took our nephew with him to visit. My son and his cousin are really close so that was a treat for him. The only thing was that since the cousin is not immediate family, they had to have a non-contact visit. (Separated by glass.) That is one of those times when this reality really sets in. Anyway, we are planning to visit on Saturday and will be back on February 22 when they are FINALLY going to have a graduation ceremony. He hasn't had too many positive things going in awhile. Can't wait to share that with him.
The reason that I did not get to go last time was that our younger son got really sick. He had been at a sleepover on Friday night and they were playing hide-n-seek outside that night. He decided to hide in some tall ornamental grass. Good decision for an asthmatic. Anyway, he called me the next morning saying he was having a hard time breathing. I pulled out his nebulizer and started breathing treatments. He continued to have a hard time so we ended up Sunday spending half a day at an urgent care center. We were afraid that he was going into pneumonia but the chest xrays showed it was not that yet. He was diagnosed with acute asthmatic brochitis and started on steroids and antibiotics and kept up the breathing treatments every 4 hours. He still wasn't getting any better so Wednesday morning, we went to his pediatrician. His oxygen saturation on Sunday had been at about 90% when we got there and I knew several times that it had to have been lower by how pale he was. Anyway, it was about 93% on Wednesday and the doc said that usually they hospitalized at about 92 so he ended up sending us to the ER at the children's hospital for xrays and tests. That of course turned into another full day. It's a great hospital and it turned out to be a really busy day for them with a lot of waiting for us. Because of his breathing problems, we were put into a room where my son got his first taste of a hospital gown. (That is a whole other post.) They hooked him up to a constant oxygen monitor that really had me a little frightened. His levels flucuated between 90 and 93. I stepped out to get a drink and came back in to the respiratory therapist in there giving him another treatment. She said that she and the nurse ran in there when his numbers went down to 88%. Anyway, they got him back up to 100%, but when the treatment stopped it started going down again. The doc finally decided though that he was getting strong enough doses of the antibiotic and steroid and increased it and sent us home. He did finally seemed to turn around the next day and he was allowed to go back to school with restrictions on Friday. This was the first time he had been through a really bad bout of asthma. He usually takes a preventative and really only needs he rescue inhaler very rarely or when his mom makes him take it for sports. This one was really scarey. So he and I had a week off from school and then today they closed the schools due to ice. Just kind of makes me miss being a stay-at-home mom.....but I want my healthy child back.
I did have something else exciting this week. I got a new refrigerator. The last time I bought a frig was 15 years ago. My old Maytag was moved between 3 states and 6 houses and refused to quit. The plastic pieces were breaking inside and the light started hanging down and wouldn't go back up so enough is enough. It had served us well. We now have one of those shiny stainless steel jobs with the freezer on the bottom and two doors up top. The diamond of my kitchen!!!! I'm just a simple girl with simple tastes....
Need to run now. My son has talked Hub into going out to his favorite hamburger place for dinner. Works for me. No cooking!

Happier Thoughts
Ever notice how life seems swing back and forth with good situations and then tough situations? I guess I have had a pity party long enough. I finally feel like we are in a bit of an upswing. Did I really say that out loud??? Yikes!
A corporate recruiter called Hub about a month ago regarding a position that it is more in his field. Since then he has had three interviews with this company; the last being with a vice president. Yesterday they called an old business colleague of his - that now works for this company - and asked him about Hub. The recruiter was trying to reach him yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, when Hub leaned down to kiss his still-sleeping, lazy wife, his phone fell out into the bed and was left at home. Now we have to wait until Tuesday since Monday is a holiday. Hub is really excited over this position. I hope it works out. He would have a lot more professional gratification and it should be more money. We should be able to get on a better family schedule again. We have been "ships passing in the night". He's off when we are in school and vice versa. (He has been helping more around the house on those days because he gets lonesome. I will miss that!) At every interview though, he was asked if he would relocate after training. Of course we will, but rather not. I hate to think of possibly moving farther away until my son is back with us and he definitely cannot leave the state until July 2010. Keep this situation in your prayers.
We are going to go visit our son tomorrow. I'm anxious to see him. He wrote his dad that he didn't look so good right now. That's never a good thing. He is living in such a different universe. I have had people in the state office tell me that, too. He's so young. I just don't want him to get use to that being the norm.
My newest neighbors came home from the hospital after only one week and one day. They are so beautifully perfect. I went over to see them and when new daddy came to the door, he looked like he was holding a Subway sandwich. That is how big they are. They are now about 4-1/2 pounds each and they were so beautiful! I just kept staring. I'm really happy for the parents and can't wait to spend more time with the babies. I took them blue and pink baby Bibles with their names on them and some preemie diapers. (Those looked like eyeglass wipes.)
Our younger son was at a birthday sleepover last night so Mom & Dad had a welcomed night to themselves. We had a leisurely dinner at a seafood restaurant. We had thought about going to a movie but we got a late start and lingered so long over dinner that we decided to just come home and watch TV in bed. As my MIL once said, "A good time was had by all."
I'm in the middle a a four-day weekend. I was suppose to work Friday but it was a student holiday and without them, I don't have as much work. Also, there were some office switching going on and I figured that I would probably just be assigned the grunt work. I've done my share so I decided to take a personal day instead. Yea, Me! I have a hard time not helping and then sometimes get mad at myself.
Have a great weekend. Thank you for sharing your lives with me and letting me share with you. Think happy thoughts!

Christmas, New Years, Babies. Whew!
I'm still here. Guess I need to feed this blog a little something-something. It does sometimes have a life of it's own you know. You start out on one thing and never know where it will take you.
Baby-oh-baby! There are babies everywhere today. I came home and checked my e-mail and found that my neighbor delivered her twins yesterday. Can't wait to meet them! Then I checked in on a blog buddy, and their baby had just been born. They have been waiting for an adoption and things just took off fast and they now are the parents of a beautiful little girl. They had just started the process in August. God so works in very mysterious ways. I'm so glad he does.
Christmas and New Years were........here and gone. Not sure what to say about it. I want to wholly celebrate the birth of my Saviour and at the same time it is so obvious that people are missing in our lives. It's not just our son I'm thinking about but I really missed mom, MIL and FIL even more this year. There was just too much at one time. My eleven year old is SO in to traditions. He keeps us in line that way. I guess that is part of his security right now in an offbeat world. We are so lucky to have him. We got to visit our older son the weekend between holidays and then we went down to Houston and spent a weekend with family. That was just what we needed. We also spent New Years Eve with three other families that we are close to and New Years Day with the neighbors. Yes....we did have blackeyed peas. No sense in tempting fate.
I'm not sure what to think about our son these days. Sometimes I see so much hope and then there are other times. I've been reading some books about prisoners getting comfortable with their situation. I can see that happening. Not that the loss of freedom, missing family and fear for life aren't effecting him. But he doesn't have to step up and support himself in there. He is still just a kid in so many ways. They say that the world stops for someone in prison. He was young when he went in and for 2-3 years before that, we were just talking to the drugs, not to our son. We have talked to people on all levels and have gotten different answers from each. That could be part of the problem. We did get a nice letter from our state representative that actually looked like it wasn't a form letter and that she had read ours. In the end, his future lies in God's hands and he has given our son the free will to make his own choices. Good, bad and ugly. We need to live our own lives and make our own mistakes. Sometimes, life is just easier than others.
Well, my younger son and I are both back in school. I think that the routine of that is somewhat of a relief. It's just that early morning alarm that gets me. :) The kids at school also seem a bit more settled than they were in December.
The boy that I told you about after Thanksgiving (the one with the bleeding in the brain) has come back to school. He is taking it easy but looks good. Just has bandaid at each temple. Isn't that amazing! So happy for his family.
Hub has a second interview tomorrow for a pretty good job. He is finally getting more comfortable with where he is at. He was also told this week that papers have been signed for his own store. Who knows what will happen? Crazy!!
Poor Travolta family. I've watched all of that and just feel so sorry for them. It also bugs me that the press keeps bringing up the "Kawasaki Syndrome". First of all, it is "Kawasaki Disease". My older son had it when he was 4-1/2. It is very, very serious and will scare you to death. Most of the symptons like seizures would have happened a lot sooner than 14 years later. According to what I have read anyway and the heart is a much stronger issue. My son had echocardiograms every two weeks for a long time after he had it to see if there were any changes in his heart. They wouldn't sign off on him for one year. When he was 14, he passed out on the track at school and because of his history, they ended up doing a heart catherazation. Thankfully, everything was good. That did give us closure. Anywho, I am no doctor and I guess it does bring attention to a rare disease and could possibly save a child. That's all good. Just wish the media would check out what they are saying.
Anyway, I'm still kicking, dancing, working, etc. Don't pay the ransom just yet. I've escaped!
Later.
